Physical Education/ Sports

Our Subject Leaders for Physical Education are Mrs Caparelli and Mr Hawley.

At Debden Primary Academy we believe that Physical Education (P.E.) is essential to the development of the whole child, through the use and knowledge of the body and its movement. It provides the foundation for a healthy lifestyle and promotes character building, co-operation and self-esteem.

Our PE curriculum is planned, sequenced and assessed using a platform called 'GetSet4PE.' Our class teachers deliver one PE lesson to their class per week, whilst we employ specialist sports coaches to deliver the other session to the children. This ensures that we are able to tailor different PE units to the individual strengths of our staff team, thus maximising the range of sports and activities that they participate in.

We are members of the Uttlesford Sport Partnership, and our teams participate in a number of sports events around the local area. We have received the Gold Sports award in each of the past four years that it has been available - once again achieving this in 2021-22! Furthermore, we offer swimming to children from year 1 upwards, performing well against the end of KS2 objectives.

Please see the key documents below to gain a greater insight into how PE is taught and developed at our school.
