9th November 2018

As you will all be aware, it is Armistice Day on 11th November. It is a very special time for us at Debden Primary Academy. This year is even more special as we celebrate the centenary of the ending of the First World War. This week the children have been fortunate enough to have some visitors in to talk to us about Remembrance and the First World War - Mr Clarke, member of the Royal British Legion, came in on Monday to remind us about Remembrance and the services that make up our armed forces. Then on Tuesday, Mr Tobin, parent governor talked to all the children about WW1. Key Stage 2 children had the opportunity to hear from a soldier from WW1! They were very keen to ask him to put on the gas masks the soldiers were given at the time. Then on Friday, years 5 & 6 commemorated the fallen at our annual Remembrance service.
